For the Spring/Summer 2016 Hilfiger Denim collection lookbook, we were inspired by the inexplicably hot summers in new york as portrayed in Spike lLee’s ‘do the right thing’. This shoot was all about the urban playground and raising temperatures.
We re-created the look of a new york basketball court in high summer: a concrete backdrop, a floor with lines and scuffs and a wired fence. We created a corner in the studio so we could work with different angles and we used hard direct light to create strong shadows and high contrasts. We emphasized the ‘heat’ by working with red and yellow filters and created faux sweat
to add to the intensity.
